It began with a Facebook chat. The three original founders of Redefining Records (Andrew, Jake and Luke) had the idea that it would be fun to start a group chat where they each took turns picking albums that they could all listen to together, then review and discuss. Almost like a book club for albums, except they were horribly unorganized and it sometimes took them weeks on end to get through an album. But it was incredibly fun because it's awesome to know what other people are listening to, and to tell other people what you're listening to.

So a couple years, and a few dozen album reviews later they had the BRILLIANT idea to make this website so they could share their infinite wisdom with the world. A COUPLE MORE YEARS LATER, and the team expanded from 3 to over 10 contributors.

Our team is comprised of some semi-normal, occasionally funny people who love to listen to and talk about music. And like many of you, we constantly find ourselves hungry to discover new music.

You can read our articles and follow our content for the same reason Andrew, Jake and Luke started their Facebook chat… they were out of good stuff to listen to and desperately wanted more. They went to each other, their best friends, to find out about new albums because they knew they'd get recommendations they could trust. Suggestions from Apple Music, or Spotify Discover Weekly, and etc. often fall short and lack a personal touch because they are generated from algorithms and whatnot. We hope to give you a more personal experience.

We are real people with real opinions and suggestions about what makes music good or terrible. The good people on our team have a lot in common with each other but also have unique perspectives and backgrounds that fuel our rants and jibber-jabber. Please follow our content and get to know us, we could use some more friends.
