FOALS

Part 2 Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost

Is it worth listening to?

If you’re already a Foals fan, then yes. Otherwise, not really.

Who’s it for?

Riff consoeurs, this is definitely for fans of the heavier Foals shit (think “My Number”, “What Went Down”). There’s a little bit of their infamous atmospheric production sounds but the emphasis is much more on the guitar parts. For example, you don’t find anything remotely similar to “Spanish Sahara” here.

I would also say that if you generally enjoy British alternative rock, you certainly won’t hate this album.

What’s good?

There is undoubtedly an epicness to Part 2. Obviously at this stage in their career, Foals crafted this album with an eye towards doing a full-on stadium tour. The energy in most of these tracks will definitely play well to massive festival-sized crowds and huge arenas.

That’s a bummer:

Not seeing the connection to Part 1. Overall, I think Part 1 was a much better album. Part 2 sadly gets a bit boring at times, there is not enough variation or uniqueness to each track to keep a listener going through the whole thing. Despite enjoying Part 1 quite a bit, the singles for this album didn’t even get me remotely excited, which I think in hindsight, was an omen for what was to come.

Best songs?

“Wash Off”

“Neptune”

“Dreaming Of”
